Privacy policy

This policy describes what the PLENTIST website actually does with information about you. In short: very little, and we've tried to say exactly what that is.

Last updated

Draft for launch. It describes the site as currently built. Details marked “To be confirmed”, including who operates PLENTIST and how to contact us, must be completed, and the policy should be reviewed by a legal professional before launch.

The short version

At present, PLENTIST:

  • has no user accounts, comments, payments or shop;
  • runs no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social-media widgets;
  • does not set cookies of its own, or store anything in your browser;
  • loads its fonts and images from our own site, not from third-party services; and
  • shows a newsletter sign-up box that is switched off: no email service is connected, and no email address can be entered or collected.

If any of this changes, we’ll update this policy before the new service is switched on.

Who we are

To be confirmed The name of the person or organisation responsible for PLENTIST and for your personal information, and how to contact them about privacy.

Information we collect

When you visit the site

Like any website, PLENTIST is delivered by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, the hosting provider’s systems necessarily handle technical information to deliver the page and protect the service from abuse. This includes your IP address, your browser and device type, the page requested and the time of the request.

To be confirmed The hosting provider, which security and performance features are enabled, and how long the provider keeps this technical information.

When you contact us

If you write to us, we receive your contact details and whatever you include in your message. We use them only to reply and to deal with what you raised, such as a correction request.

To be confirmed The contact method, the email service used to receive messages, and how long messages are kept.

The newsletter sign-up box

Some pages show a newsletter sign-up box. The newsletter hasn’t launched and no email service is connected, so sign-up is switched off: the email field and the Subscribe button are disabled, nothing can be entered or sent, and PLENTIST does not receive or store any email address.

When a newsletter service is connected, this section will be rewritten to name the provider, explain what is collected and how to unsubscribe, and describe how long addresses are kept.

What we don’t collect or use

PLENTIST does not currently use:

  • analytics or visitor-tracking tools;
  • advertising networks or advertising cookies;
  • tracking pixels, such as those from social networks;
  • embedded videos, social-media posts or other third-party content that loads when you open a page;
  • comment systems, accounts, logins or payment services; or
  • affiliate tracking links.

Cookies and browser storage

The PLENTIST website does not set cookies of its own and does not use your browser’s local storage. Because no non-essential cookies are used, there is no cookie banner.

To be confirmed Whether the hosting provider sets any strictly necessary security cookies under the chosen configuration. If it does, they will be listed here.

Our articles link to other websites, such as public-health bodies and research publishers, so you can check our sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we don’t control what they collect when you visit them.

How we use and share information

We use the limited information described above only to run the site, keep it secure and reply to messages. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.

To be confirmed The service providers (processors) that handle personal information for us, where they are based, any international data transfers, and the legal basis for each use of information.

How long we keep information

To be confirmed Retention periods for contact messages and for any technical logs we control.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. These can include the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. You may also be able to complain to your local data-protection authority.

To be confirmed How to make a privacy request, and which data-protection laws and authority apply.

Children

PLENTIST is written for adults and is not directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page whenever the way PLENTIST handles information changes, and change the “Last updated” date at the top.
